On assignment as a freelance journalist, Smita became enamored with the handloom and textile traditions of India. She decided to pursue this passion full-time and established Indigo Handloom in 2003. Smita's scarves are a celebration of the beautiful fabrics produced by the centuries-old weaving practices and the weavers themselves. All of Smita's scarves are made on manual handlooms; requiring no energy other than the talent and artistry of the weavers. These unique scarves effortlessly dress up an outfit or serve as a wrap on a boat ride or cool summer nights. Handmade in India.
