atelier du douire
grey dorade ceramic fish

In 1972 Dominque and Jill started making pottery in their small workshop in the Provence region of France. The couple creates their animal sculptures using the Japanese technique of Raku. This method celebrates pottery created by hand and finds beauty in the imperfections and visible human touch. Dominique and Jill strive to capture a moment in life, which is visible in the postures of their animated sculpted subjects. The dorade is our largest ceramic fish and is hand painted in an understated shade of soft grey and white. Includes an eyehook on the nose for convenient display. Handmade in France.
