nahual
aqua otomi pillow

Crafted in Puebla, these colorful textiles are hand-embroidered by the Otomi people, who are the original inhabitants of central Mexico. Inspired by their rich ancestral traditions, the images evoke the spirit of Mexican realism with mythical depictions of both plants and animals. Brooklyn-based project coordinator, Pauline Mason, has made it her mission to follow fair-trade principles to preserve and promote the rich beauty of the Otomi cultural heritage. Influenced by cave paintings and inspired by incestral dress, these Otomi pillows merge the familiar with the mythical in saturated colors and bold designs. Handmade in Mexico.
