penobscot bay quilt

Emily Fischer is a Brooklyn based architect and artist with a graphic, tactile sensibility. Her unique work has garnered her awards in multiple artistic fields. Haptic Lab is Emily’s way of countering the rapid digitization of our lives by focusing on the real, physical world that our bodies occupy. She and her team of artists make intricate kites, quilts, and furniture that combine new technologies and traditional techniques, infusing a sense of play into everything they create. The Penobscot Bay Quilt perfectly captures the beautiful and intricate Maine coastline. From Acadia National Park to the fishing hamlets of West Bay, the twisting shoreline and islands are meticulously applied with gold polysilk on a soft cotton backing of pale blue cotton. The roads and ocean topography are entirely hand-stitched. Handmade in India.
